Tips for Weight Control
Weight management through reduction of excess body fat plays a vital role in maintaining good health and fighting disease. The most successful weight loss plans combine Healthy eating , Balanced nutrition and regular exercise to help you lose weight. Excess body fat is linked to major physical threats like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. In women, excess body fat has been linked to a higher rate of breast and uterine cancer; in men, the threat comes from colon and prostate cancer.
* To lose weight, you must eat fewer calories than your body uses. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to eat less food. There are many ways you can continue to enjoy foods you like while working towards your weight loss goals, creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
* Water, Water, Water - the more you drink it, the less you retain it.
Fruits & Veggies - finally, food you actually should eat a lot of. Most fruits and vegetables are naturally low in fat and calories and are filling.
*Slow down! When you eat fast, you end up ingesting more food before you body has a chance to figure out that it's satisfied (not full).
Drink more water during the day.
*Reduce the amount of breads, chips, crackers, and salty snacks you eat. A lot of starchy and/or salty food make you want to eat and drink even more.
* Baking or boiling is recommended instead of frying. Eat and chew slowly. Stop eating before you feel full. It takes 20 minutes for the stomach to tell the brain that it is full!
* Regular exercise is a key factor in achieving permanent weight loss and improving health– whether it be gardening, dancing, walking, or jogging or swimming will enliven your physical and mental health and help to keep the extra pounds off. Determine the type of physical activity that suits your life style.
